Hey Adam Sweet, What Do You Do?

Recently, I was interviewed for an article about my record label, Sweet Songs.  It got me thinking about when people first meet me.  They often ask whether I consider myself more of a performer, a composer, or a teacher. The truth is pretty simple: teaching music is what I do. It's my main vocation, my daily work, and the heart of my professional life.

Through my studio, I spend most of my time helping students grow as musicians-whether they're picking up the violin, mandolin, or guitar for the first time, or refining their skills after years of playing. Watching someone discover their own voice on an instrument and guiding them through that journey is endlessly rewarding. Teaching isn't just about sharing knowledge; it's about inspiring curiosity, confidence, and a love of music that lasts.

That said, I also wear another hat: I compose and write songs. But here's the distinction-composition is my hobby. It's something I do because I can't help myself. Writing music is a way to explore my own creativity, to experiment, and to follow sparks of inspiration wherever they lead. I share those pieces because I enjoy the process, not because it defines my career.

So if you're looking to learn, grow, and explore your own musical potential, my teaching studio is where you'll find me. And if you're curious about the music I write on the side, you can peek into that world too.

At the end of the day, teaching is the center of my musical life-composing is the joy that fills in the spaces around it.
