Cosmic Butterfly – A Techno Journey Through the Butterfly Nebula

When I first saw the James Webb Space Telescope's image of NGC 6302, the Butterfly Nebula, I was struck by its surreal beauty. Here was a dying star, shedding its layers into radiant wings of dust and gas - a fleeting phenomenon just 20,000 years old, yet holding secrets of Earth's origins within its particles.

The image spoke not just of science, but of music. I imagined pulsing bass echoing through its vast wings, soprano cries floating like stellar winds, and hypnotic rhythms weaving through the nebula's chaotic geometry. From that vision came “Cosmic Butterfly” - a high-energy techno track that blends deep bass with ethereal vocals, evoking the awe of cosmic creation.

This work is a meditation on the origins of matter, the beauty of impermanence, and the electrifying union of science and sound.

Lyrics: Cosmic Butterfly

(Verse 1)

In the heart of the stars, where the cosmos ignite,

A butterfly nebula glows in the night.

NGC 6302, three thousand light-years away,

Secrets of Earth in its dusty display.

Pulsing deep bass, feel the rhythm unfold,

Crystalline silicates, stories untold.

From the torus of dust to the jets that take flight,

A stellar engine burns in the neon-lit night.

(Pre-Chorus)

Red bubbles burst, helium and neon collide,

Iron jets pierce where the mysteries hide.

PAHs in the smoke, like a cosmic refrain,

Born in the chaos, where the stars feel no pain.

(Chorus)

Cosmic butterfly, spread your wings in the sky,

Dance through the void where the galaxies fly.

Webb's infrared gaze, tearing secrets apart,

Singing the song of creation's own heart.

(Oh-oh-oh) Electrified, we're lost in the sound,

(Oh-oh-oh) Techno waves where the stars are unbound.

(Verse 2)

A blazing star, two hundred thousand degrees,

Sculpting the heavens with a fiery breeze.

The torus spins, a doughnut of dreams,

Blocking the light, shaping butterfly wings.

Soprano cries soar, otherworldly and clear,

Echoes of atoms through the cosmic frontier.

From quartz to the grime, in the nebula's core,

The seeds of our world in the stardust we soar.

(Pre-Chorus)

Iron and nickel, they carve through the void,

Jets of creation where the stars are deployed.

A bubble of wind, where the PAHs rise,

Honeycomb dreams in the nebula's skies.

(Chorus)

Cosmic butterfly, spread your wings in the sky,

Dance through the void where the galaxies fly.

Webb's infrared gaze, tearing secrets apart,

Singing the song of creation's own heart.

(Oh-oh-oh) Electrified, we're lost in the sound,

(Oh-oh-oh) Techno waves where the stars are unbound.

(Bridge)

Zoom to the center, where the star's hidden glow,

Dust clouds ignite in the infrared show.

ALMA and Webb, hand in hand they reveal,

A structured chaos, where the cosmos feels real.

Hypnotic beats pulse, like the heart of the star,

Soprano ascends, takes us light-years too far.

(Chorus)

Cosmic butterfly, spread your wings in the sky,

Dance through the void where the galaxies fly.

Webb's infrared gaze, tearing secrets apart,

Singing the song of creation's own heart.

(Oh-oh-oh) Electrified, we're lost in the sound,

(Oh-oh-oh) Techno waves where the stars are unbound.

(Outro)

Bipolar wings, in the dark they unfold,

A fleeting nebula, twenty thousand years old.

From soot to gemstones, in the stardust we trust,

Cosmic butterfly, you're the spark of our dust.

(Oh-oh-oh) Electrified, we're lost in the sound,

(Oh-oh-oh) Forever bound, where the stars are found.

✨ If you've ever wanted to dance with the stars, this track is for you. Let the pulsing bass and soaring soprano carry you through the wings of the Cosmic Butterfly - where science, sound, and spirit meet.
