Writing "Voices Unheard"

I was struck by a story by Amherst College Junior, Willow Delp about social justice in Palestine, so I wrote a song about it  https://amherststudent.com/article/anti-ableist-amherst-neurodivergent-in-palestine/  called "Voices Unheard"

A stirring folk-acoustic anthem born from the heart of advocacy, Voices Unheard weaves a powerful narrative of solidarity and justice. Inspired by the intersection of disability justice and the fight for a free Palestine, this song amplifies the resilient spirits of neurodivergent Palestinians facing unimaginable challenges. With haunting piano melodies and heartfelt lyrics, it calls for unity, hope, and liberation. Each note resonates with the unyielding belief that every voice deserves to be heard, and every life deserves peace. Verse 1

In the heart of Amherst, a voice rises clear,

Willow speaks of justice, for those far and near.

Neurodivergent dreams, in a world that's unkind,

Bound to Palestine's struggle, their fates intertwined.

Pre-Chorus

From Gaza's broken streets to the West Bank's pain,

The weight of oppression falls like endless rain.

Yet in the silence, their stories unfold,

Voices unheard, but their truth must be told.

Chorus

Sing for the silenced, the ones left behind,

Neurodivergent hearts in a world so confined.

For a free Palestine, where all can be whole,

We fight for their freedom, their hearts, and their soul.

Verse 2

Eyad walked to school, unarmed and alone,

A life taken coldly, his story unknown.

Muhammad's cries echo, attacked in the night,

By a system that crushes their spark and their light.

Pre-Chorus

Starved of their needs, bombed out of their homes,

Neurodivergent souls face the world on their own.

From sound's piercing sting to routines torn apart,

Their struggle's a fire that burns in our hearts.

Chorus

Sing for the silenced, the ones left behind,

Neurodivergent hearts in a world so confined.

For a free Palestine, where all can be whole,

We fight for their freedom, their hearts, and their soul.

Bridge

Areej speaks for her children, their dreams held so tight,

Deserving of peace, deserving of light.

No shame in their difference, their minds bold and free,

Yet chance divides us, from Gaza to me.

Chorus

Sing for the silenced, the ones left behind,

Neurodivergent hearts in a world so confined.

For a free Palestine, where all can be whole,

We fight for their freedom, their hearts, and their soul.

Outro

So we'll raise up our voices, from Amherst to the sea,

For justice, for love, for a Palestine free.

Neurodivergent and strong, their spirits will rise,

Together we'll stand, ‘til their freedom's realized.
